FireFox's Rally Stalls?

Web analysts have recently noted first signs of slowdown in FireFox growth. Although still stellar, the current growth rate is twice as slow compared to only a month ago.

Since the first release by the Mozilla Foundation in November 2004 FireFox has been downloaded over 27 million times. Consequently, its market share has reached almost 6% while the market share of Microsoft's Internet Explorer has contracted by 3% over the same period of time.

These numbers and the underlying trend should allow FireFox to reach 10 percent market share target by the year-end, but fall short from the early post-release forecasts.

Early adopters – sophisticated home users tired of Internet Explorer – have long acquired their copy FireFox. To sustain its growth the new browser has to win enterprise users and this may prove difficult to achieve as adoption by organizations has its own rules and is much slower.
