Ca Releases Etrust Anti-spam

ISLANDIA, N.Y., June 2, 2005 – Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA) today released its eTrust Anti-Spam, a powerful, easy-to-use anti-spam and fraud-detection solution. eTrust Anti-Spam is the most recent addition to CA's eTrust PC security portfolio, which also includes enterprise-strength antivirus, anti-spyware and firewall software for consumers.

According to a recent IDC report, spam messages sent daily worldwide have jumped from seven billion in 2002 to 23 billion in 2004. The report — entitled “Worldwide Antispam Solutions 2004 – 2008 Forecast and 2003 Vendor Shares: What is Being Done About Spam” — also cited that internet service providers and anti-spam companies report that spam currently represents 50-95 percent of all inbound Internet email messages.

Additionally, “phishing” — a technique whereby criminals use spoofed email from well-known brands or hijack legitimate Web pages to dupe recipients into providing personal information such as social security numbers or credit card information — remains prevalent.

eTrust Anti-Spam solves many of the challenges of spam and fraudulent emails by providing a powerful, proactive solution that blocks unwanted, unsolicited emails. eTrust Anti-Spam automatically builds and manages an approved list of senders, allowing users to view and use email effortlessly. Additional key features and benefits include:

*
Spoof-proof fraud protection that verifies the authenticity of messages from people and companies using industry-standard digital signatures;
*
Optional challenge/response, allowing users to confirm that senders of quarantined messages are real people and not automated spam robots;
*
Verification of bonded sender, allowing mail from legitimate senders of commercial e-mail to be delivered to the inbox;
*
Support of international languages which properly filters spam sent in any language and automatically displays German, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simple and Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean based on personal Windows language settings.

“Today, spam is more than just a nuisance — it's a serious security threat,” said George Kafkarkou, senior vice president of consumer and SMB sales for CA. “eTrust Anti-Spam allows users to use email effortlessly without being interrupted by spam or wasting time creating personal white lists and rules.”

eTrust Anti-Spam lists for $29.95 MSRP and is available at http://ca.com/consumer or at many major electronics retailers.
