Voyence Launches Configuration Management Database (cmdb) Integration Strategy

Demonstrates Initial Deployment, and Integration with BMC, at Remedy User Group

Richardson, TX, July 13, 2005 — Voyence™ Inc., the leading provider of network configuration management solutions, today unveiled its CMDB strategy to become the gold standard provider for network device-related data. The company illustrated its commitment to this new strategy with the unveiling of its first integration with the BMC Software® Atrium Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

Voyence supports CMDB requirements by publishing network device Configuration Items (CIs), and by reading and storing reference information from any federated, or linked model CMDB.

“The integration of VoyenceControl! with BMC’s Atrium CMDB is a clear sign of progress in the CMDB marketplace – as it brings native network device change and configuration capabilities to complement those from BMC’s strength in systems change and configuration,” said Dennis Drogseth, Vice President of Enterprise Management Associates. “This integration is well thought-out and should extend BMC’s offering to support ITIL process requirements more completely. Combined with Voyence’s integration with Remedy, it should allow BMC customers to plan more comprehensive change management initiatives across the full infrastructure.”

With the integration of VoyenceControl! into BMC Atrium CMDB, Voyence and BMC are addressing core requirements of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL). ITIL provides a standard framework of best practices to help enterprises manage their day-to-day operations efficiently and effectively. At the heart of ITIL lies the CMDB, a centralized data store for IT asset configuration management data.

BMC Atrium CMDB provides common data repositories and shared service models that accelerate Business Service Management (BSM). BSM strategy enables companies to move beyond traditional IT management to better control their critical services from a business perspective. The BMC Atrium CMDB is a single source across the IT organization that provides a logical model of the IT infrastructure to identify, control, provide status and verify all Configuration Items (CIs). VoyenceControl! provides network device related CIs directly to the BMC Atrium CMDB, enhancing asset management, change management and help desk and service level agreements. As a result, organizations benefit from networks with more security, ensured compliance and a better ability to deliver on business goals.

“The power of the BMC Atrium CMDB is in its open architecture and adaptability,” said Kelly Blice, senior manager of solutions marketing at BMC. “By working with companies such as Voyence to ensure the important components of the IT infrastructure, such as the network, in this case, are accurately represented through a federated data model, BMC Software is enabling companies implementing the BMC Atrium CMDB to realize the benefits of BSM.”

This week at BMC Software Remedy User Group, Voyence is demonstrating integration between VoyenceControl! and BMC Atrium CMDB, BMC Service Impact Manager (SIM), and BMC Remedy HelpDesk. This integration supports the BMC Software BSM strategy by providing companies with expanded visibility into their IT infrastructure and enables them to understand how changes to the configuration of the network affect business services.
