Enhanced WiFi Manager Meets Growing Need For Managing Heterogeneous Wireless Networks of Small and Medium Enterprises

PLEASANTON, CA and Networld+Interop 2005 (Booth 419) - May 3, 2005 -- AdventNet, Inc., a leading wireless security and network management software provider, today announced support for DLINK, SMC, and Linksys Wireless Access Points/ Routers with the release of version 4.2.0 of its ManageEngine WiFi Manager. The latest version of WiFi Manager will give small and medium enterprise IT, the ability to seamlessly secure, configure, and monitor wireless networks with multi-vendor Wireless LAN hardware. In addition to the access points and routers, WiFi Manager now supports wireless access gateways from Nomadix. This enables Wireless ISPs using Nomadix solutions to leverage the benefit of centralized network management at an affordable price point.

When it comes to Wireless LANs, small is big. The number of small and medium enterprises adopting Wireless LANs shot up in the recent years with most of them using high-end devices such as, DLINK, LINKSYS, SMC, and NetGear among others. These vendors offering enterprise-grade functionality at SOHO grade pricing is driving up Wireless adoption at SMBs. In many organizations, especially the ones with branch offices, mixed wireless hardware from these vendors is common sight. But although they get the enterprise grade hardware, they still lack enterprise-grade network management and security tools, which remain out of reach due to budget constraints.

"Traditional Network Management software vendors have long ignored the SMBs and when it comes to Wireless LANs, the scene is much worse. Few management tools in the market offer good functionality but they cost as much as $4k-$5k for managing 50 access points. Moreover, many of them don't support the devices that the SMBs love to deploy. These customers are naturally turning to heterogeneous network management software that does the job neatly at an affordable price point," said I.Sivarama Krishnan, Product Manager at Adventnet, Inc.
In response to customer demand, AdventNet has integrated support for SMB friendly devices in this release of WiFi Manager.

Some of the other highlights of WiFi Manager release 4.2.0:

· Support for DLINK, SMC, LINKSYS devices
· Enhanced rogue detection techniques
· Rogue blocking made easy
· Full page description for security alarms
· Support for Nomadix Gateway
· Option to unmanage devices during off-office hours
· HTTP support for device discovery
· Utility to create views with floor plans
· On-the-fly PDF generation for reports
· Option to send reports through E-Mail
· 2 new reports on access point / mobile client associations

WiFi Manager 4.2.0 with support for DLINK, SMC, and Linksys wireless devices is now available direct from AdventNet or from approved AdventNet resellers. In addition to the DLINK, SMC, Linksys, Nomadix devices, the WiFi Manager solution already supports hardware from other leading vendors like Cisco, ProCurve Networking by HP, Symbol, Proxim, Avaya, Dell, and 3com. Support for additional vendors and products will be announced in the near future.

AdventNet will be demonstrating WiFi Manager at NetWorld+Interop in Las Vegas, May 3-5, 2005 in booth 419.
